We have received the following communication from Glen Jamieson, San Pareil Emergency Planning Chair:
“I note that there is confusion among San Pareil residents re the use of the walkway between San Pareil and Rathtrevor Provincial Park.
To clarify, the walkway is not a road and cannot take much vehicle traffic. It will thus only be used for necessary emergency vehicle access (ambulance and police; it is too  narrow for large fire engines) if needed because of Plummer Road blockage. This passageway is not for the convenience of vehicle passage by San Pareil residents. If Plummer Road is blocked (seldom to date for more than a few hours or days at most) and people need to exit, this pathway can be used by foot or bicycle.
The RCMP will be coordinating with San Pareil’s Emergency Planning Committee if necessary to remove the locked post to utilize the walkway by regional emergency vehicles. Three San Pareil residents have keys in case the RCMP needs our assistance to enter the subdivision by the pathway.”
The SSPORA Board will be meeting with Glenn at our January 2023 meeting and also be following up with the RDN to provide additional information on emergency planning related to Rathtrevor access and other related information.
